The Confusing Battle For Freedom – CHAINLETTER 38

Sep 5, 2024 | Chainletter |

Price action as we go into Autumn remains subdued. We explore some signs of life and revisit the important drivers. The most important from a macro perspective is the behaviour of the dollar, which is at a fork in the road. If we see further weakness we’d expect a new lease of life for bitcoin and crypto. We look at where we are in the cycle, but also examine the real reason for the sector’s cyclicality and whether it continues. On-chain analysis shows accumulation by the old hands.

Freedom of speech is top of mind at the moment. We ask what that entails. Are we entitled to have rights without responsibilities? How should social media companies react and might crypto one day provide the answers?

In Cryptoverse we look at Helium’s countertrend strength and the entrance of Sony into the blockchain world. We are also reminded of the enduring regulatory obstacles that continue to stifle the sector’s adoption and progress, as Telegram and OpenSea find themselves in the authorities’ crosshairs.

  • Technical            Still drifting, update on the cycle, small signs of altcoin life
  • On-Chain            Value weak, transactions strong, long term holders accumulate, stablecoin strength
  • Macro                  All about the dollar, the grimness of Labour
  • Ethos                  Social media and freedom of speech
  • Cryptoverse       Helium soars, Sony enters, Toncoin and OpenSea battle regulation
